Peter Thiel just put a $2bn valuation on cow collars, and almost nobody understands why it’s the cleanest arbitrage on the board. The beef industry runs on near-zero net margins, so every investor walks straight past it. But that zero was never about the cattle. It was about the labour. @halterhq AI collars strip the labour out, and in a no-margin business a small lift in output multiplies the profit several times over. That is the whole thesis. Buy the productivity lever in a trillion-dollar industry nobody else will touch.#VentureCapital #StartupInvesting #PrivateEquity #Agtech #FounderFinanceLoad more commentstarnieturnip420 3mWhy is some dead eyed finance sociopath is telling about Peter thiels new play on my timelineLikeReplyjimmy_cantwell_music 30mThe collars will help manage grazing but there is sooooooooooooo much more to cowboying than that. Bout all it’s gonna do is keep the guys managing the cattle from having to build too much fence. 😂 but we’ll see how well they even work as time goes on.LikeReplybrunovillagomez 30mWhat the collar gonna do when a cow is about to blowup with gasLikeReplyaustinofnm 45mlolLikeReplynicholas_laduke 1hInsert screw worm cy op!!!Look up how you manage that!LikeReplystroudsworst_poacher 1hWas he bullied at school?LikeReplytaaydd 2hNothing with PT’s name in it means destruction of humans.LikeReplypisceschef 2hHow is this arbitrage exactly?LikeReplyjrplate 2hI love how the people who have never had a callous on their hands think they’ve got all the answers.2 likesReplythewhaatwhat 2hA virtual fence does not make animal management human free. Hardly. You’re missing 95% of work for that industry. Tell me you know nothing abt this without telling.LikeReplyjohnnymagin 2hWhat do you do when a cow slips an invisible fence? You send a drone to herd it back? Lol. People with some wild ideas about harsh realities of ranching sitting in their 72 degree offices in Santa Clara. Lol. Im not a farmer but simulations do not success make.LikeReplywhalen_hughes_yoga 2h“Held down by nothing more than romance” I would more accurately say it’s held down by the invisible labor of multiple generations. These collars can’t interpret weather patterns, early stress signals within the heard, ecological cues, or quickly adjust to emergent events like flash floods or wildfires (that are currently ravaging the Western US). What you are hyping here is nothing more than corporate capture.LikeReplykyle_mullen793 2hI’ve investigated halter. Here in Canada the price is about 120 per cow startup fee and a 120 subscription cost per year. This will work great on poor pasture with low stocking rates. It is horrible economically compared to doing the same grazing practices but with high tensile wire and alley grazing. If you are getting more than 30 cow days per acre then halter is a money loosing proposition compared to permanent fencingLikeReplyvegenaise 2hdisplaced ranchers should take a page out of the luddites playbook. nothing a $30 pair of bolt cutters wouldn't solve.LikeReplygermtoaster 3hLet me guess, it’s like a shock collar for the cows if they go too far? That’s gonna help the quality of the beef.LikeReplycactusliving_ 3hImagine thinking you can control cattles and ranch management by pushing AI buttons sitting in their fancy office.LikeReplytylerbotzon 3hYeah, they clearly don't understand where the labor intensity is concentrated in this industry if they think they're squeezing their margin out of the pasture phase of the beef value chain.LikeReplyjessiefulton437 3hThere's no way this is their actual thesis. What else is going on?LikeReplychris_malloy_yarning 3hPeople who prioritize family, community, and connection to their environment will outlast this tech boy, deep state, pansy all day long. “Romance” you call it? Your perspective is exactly why you got your ass kicked off this continent to begin with.LikeReplyonemanband12345 3hTell me you don’t understand livestock without telling you don’t understand livestockLikeReplyhugefood 3hSincere question: are you pro Thiel, like all things considered, spanning his whole career? Thank youLikeReply_duncanhastings 3h10,000% tariff on imported beef1 likeReplyrandyballwalker 3hIt won’t “replace” the Cowboy, it’s just another herd management tool to enhance operations. Couple with regenerative ranching and see what happensLikeReplybodhihealthyhomes 3hWrong! beef industry is not zero margin. It’s the farmers that are zero margin and big beef makes plenty of profit. We are right back where we started over 100 years ago and all of our antitrust laws are pretty much useless thanks to a corporate owned government that has no interest in protecting the little guy.LikeReplyjoshuahendricks_buswaymusicLikeReplygentrifiedjoey 3h😂LikeReplykarinaacorda 3hRegenerative farming helps make ranching more profitable and it’s healthier for us and the environment.1 likeReplygarrenhardman 3hSure ai fencing can help but there is so much more@manual labour in the ranching b
